Classrooms damaged in blaze at Marymount NS
A number of classrooms at Marymount NS were damaged after a fire broke out at the school early on Sunday morning.
The fire originated in an upstairs room of the school and this room was extensively damaged as a result of the blaze.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8am and a number of units from Drogheda Fire Brigade were in attendance.
The affected classroom was seriously damaged and a number of others were also affected by smoke damage as a result of the incident on Sunday morning.
Gardaí were in attendance a the scene but the fire is not believed to have been started maliciously, it’s thought an electrical fault may have been the cause of the blaze.
There was some disruption to classes on Monday while a clean up operation was carried out following the fire.
