Classrooms damaged in blaze at Marymount NS

A number of classrooms at Marymount NS were damaged after a fire broke out at the school early on Sunday morning.

The fire originated in an upstairs room of the school and this room was extensivel­y damaged as a result of the blaze.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8am and a number of units from Drogheda Fire Brigade were in attendance.

The affected classroom was seriously damaged and a number of others were also affected by smoke damage as a result of the incident on Sunday morning.

Gardaí were in attendance a the scene but the fire is not believed to have been started maliciousl­y, it’s thought an electrical fault may have been the cause of the blaze.

There was some disruption to classes on Monday while a clean up operation was carried out following the fire.
