‘County now needs services’ says Coffey

-

Councillor Emma Coffey welcomed the report from the central statistics office, based on the census results, which confirmed that in Drogheda and Dundalk, County Louth now has the two largest centres of population outside Dublin

Drogheda is the fastest growing town with a population of 40,956. The population of Dundalk is 34,496. The population of the entire county amounts to 128,375.

‘ These figures have implications for the services provided, not only from the point of view of Louth County Council but on facilities and projects funded from central government. What we must do now is plan for an even further population increase in the next census and ensure that both the Government and the Council are in a position to meet the needs of our ever expanding population in the future,’ she stated.
