PRIDE OF PLACE

The nomination for the Pride of Place Award comes from Louth County Council. There are usually three nomination­s from each County. Dunleer has been nominated in the small town Award. The Awards take place in Donegal later in the year. The judges will be visiting Dunleer on Tuesday, August 15th 2017. They will take into considerat­ion things like how vibrant is Dunleer as a town. They will visit the organisati­ons if available and talk about an all-inclusive community with reference to cross co-operation between groups like Tidy Towns Community the Dunleer Developmen­t board, Active Retired, Music, Art and sports Clubs, community Employment, Churches, recreation facilities etc. It will take into account the inclusiven­ess of all the different cultures in the town. This is great honour for Dunleer to represent the county at National level. Dunleer is looking forward to the challenge. The results will then be announced in Donegal some weeks later.

LANN LÉIRE CPG LOTTO

Lann Léire CPG lotto results for Wednesday, May 17th, 2017. Numbers drawn were; 09, 12, 23, and 28. There was no jackpot winner. Next week’s jackpot is €15,000. Weekly winners of €50 were Declan Dowd and Peter McArdle. The club thanks you for your continued support.

DUNLEER DUCK DERBY

The Dunleer Duck Derby Takes place on the White River Dunleer on Sunday 4th June at 2pm in the afternoon. It will have all the usual side shows. Gold fish can be won for the children and many other novelty prizes. There will also be novelty children’s races in the course of the afternoon. The Tidy Towns Team will be on the Street on Friday 26th May for anyone wishing to sponsor a duck fopr the race. There will be the usual band called the Full Shilling which is always entertaini­ng and adds a carnival atmosphere to the event. Ice -creams will also be available and we are looking at other attraction­s. It’s a family day out so give the tidy towns team your support.

DUNLEER GOLF SOCIETY

The next event of the Dunleer Golf Society will be Beaverstow­n GC on Saturday, May 27th sponsored by the Dunleer Inn.

DILLONSTOW­N NS PICNIC

Dillonstow­n National School PA are hosting a ‘Bring your own’ Summer Picnic in BARMEATH CASTLE on Sunday 28th May 2-5 pm. Enjoy a picnic followed by a stroll through the beautiful walled gardens. €10 per car or €5 per adult and accompanie­d children go free. A day not to be missed.

CORPUS CHRISTI PICNIC

Corpus Christi picnic will take place on Sunday, June 4th. It will be held in the garden of the parochial house after 11:30 mass. We extend a very special invitation to all the children who received the sacraments of First Holy Communion and confirmati­on in the parish this month will be held in the garden of the parochial house.

KILMAINHAM GAOL

The Dunleer and District Historical Society will run a tour to Kilmainham Gaol on Sunday, June 11th. The bus will leave Dunleer at 9.00am and return at approx. 5.00pm. The tour of the old Gaol will start at 11.00 am with time afterward to explore the museum. The day will conclude with a visit to Farmleigh House and Estate. Total cost € 20.00 per person. Book early as places are limited.

The Mosstown Patrun takes place on Sunday, June 18th at 12 noon.

MOTOR NEURONE BALL

Following on from the great success of last year’s Summer Gala Ball another is being organised for this year. The date for this year’s Summer Gala Ball is Friday, June 23rd in the renowned Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells, Co. Meath. The evening commences with a Prosecco reception at 7.30pm followed by dinner. The organisers are thrilled to have Miriam O’Callaghan as the MC for the night and are delighted to welcome back the very talented Ronan Collins and his band to provide the music. There will be a raffle and auction on the night, lots of spot prizes. Everybody is invited to go along for have a fabulous evening in beautiful surroundin­gs and support a fantastic organisati­on. GREENHILLS CAMP

The Greenhills summer sports Camp will take place this year for two weeks: July 10th to the 14th and July 17th to the 21st. This year they have added two fantastic new activities; The Rodeo Bull Ride & The Wipeout Game- also known as The Last Man Standing.
