THE club held a very successful Diamond Jubilee Celebration recently in Darver Castle. Many thanks to all those who contributed to and attended the event.

Our commerative booklet compiled by clubman Des Halpenny was launched, with every guest receiving a copy. The MacArdle Cup winners of 1991 and Junior Championship winners of 1992 were also honoured, together with a presentation to our surviving club founder Christy Byrne.

Juvenile Training continues every Friday from 6.30 - 7.30pm. Registration is free and we provide football for all ages from Nursery onwards and participate in all County and Regional Blitzes.

Booking for our Louth GAA Cúl Camp can now be done online. The John Mitchels Code is LH24. Check out our Facebook page for further details.

John Mitchel’s, together with Louth GAA and St Joseph’s, are hosting the 2nd Annual Stephen Melia Sevens which will be held this year on June 10th. Further details will be forwarded to clubs.

The Senior team played local opposition Sean McDermott’s on Friday evening in Mountrush. It was a hard-fought, competitive game, with a great second-half performance by the Mitchel’s men. The Seans came out on top by a narrow two points. Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday.

Congratulations to our own John Gallagher and the Louth Minor team and management on a fantastic win over Offaly in the Leinster Championship in Drogheda on Saturday. They are now through to the Leinster semi-final, helped by a widely acclaimed performance by John who scored 0-8.

The lotto jackpot stands at €4,500 and the five €20 winners in the latest draw were Murphy Rooney (c/o J Sweeney), Olive King (c/o JJ Curtis), Sandra Halpenny (c/o J Halpenny), Barbara McShane (c/o P Maguire) and the Dunne family (c/o D Dunne). The draw is held each Tuesday night in the clubrooms.
