Inside Out is a new food experience in Slane

-

THE award winning Inside Out restaurant in Slane offers mouthwatering dishes and a warm welcome to all. The restaurant opened its doors to the public just five months ago but has already established itself as one of the best dining experiences in the area.

It gained both local and national recognition after being named ‘Best Newcomer’ in Meath at the prestigious Irish Restaurant Awards recently, an award which recognises both the quality of the produce and the professional service and beautiful surroundings offered at Inside Out.

Located on Chapel Street in the heart of the scenic Slane village, the newly refurbished premises offers customers a cosy, candlelit Mediterranean feel surrounded by beautiful olive trees and laurels. Proprietors Edel Healy and James Ausden both have a wealth of experience in the hospitality and restaurant trade - head chef James grew up in the hotel industry as his family owned two hotels in Jersey. He opened his own restaurant, Tides on Wellington Quay in 2001 and also opened The Cottage Bistro in Skerries in 2004. In 2005 he joined The Black Bull Inn as head chef and stayed there until December 2016 when the couple opened Inside Out.

Edel has years of experience working front of house in a number of high profile local restaurants; she worked in The Black Bull from 1997 until 2000 while still a student and joined the staff fulltime from 2007 to 2015. Both have a passion for food which is obvious from the stunning menu, with a strong focus on freshness, flavour and top quality produce.

The dishes on offer use local Irish produce and are inspired by Mediterranean fusion. The menu ensures there is something for everyone with gorgeous homemade pizzas from the inhouse pizza oven offering a wide variety of toppings including Boyne Valley Blue Cheese, rocket and roast pepper, chili and garlic sausage with onion and hamhock, pepperoni, mushroom and rocket. Pizzas are available both to eat inhouse in the restaurant and as a takeaway meal.

Other mouthwatering dishes include spatchcock chicken with Mozambique or zingy lemon garlic sauce, Seabass with baby ratatouille, citrus and chilli dressing, flat iron steak and linguini with chilli and gardlic sausage. There is also an extensive and nutritious children’s menu with everything from homemade breaded chicken goujons, to mini flat iron steak, pizza and Spaghetti bolognaise.

The menu has already proved to be a big hit with locals and those from further afield as word continues spreads about this stunning new eatery with amazing reviews on Tripadvisor and the restaurant fed more than 600 members of the gardaí working at last weekend’s Guns ‘n’ Roses concert at Slane Castle after they were awarded the contract for the busy event.

With the summer fast approaching and the sun continuing to shine, the large garden and terrace at Inside Out offers the perfect spot to enjoy some alfresco dining with friends and family. The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 12.30pm to 10pm and Sunday from 12.30pm to 9pm.

Inside Out will celebrate the June Bank Holiday weekend with a a barbeque and garden fiesta from 1pm to 7pm with live muisc from the Slane Guitar Trio, great food, great wine, face painting, family fun and more.
