Holders see off gallant Naomh Moninne

-

THE combination outfit retained their Feile title with this hard-earned victory over Naomh Moninne in this entertaining final played at the Upper Marshes last Friday evening.

The holders opened the scoring when Kyle Whelan pointed after two minutes of play but the Dundalk boys were level four minutes later when their hard working midfielder Conor Murphy pointed from play.

The sides shared the next four points before Shane Curtis netted his sides opening goal from close range on 15 minutes. His side added a second goal five minutes later when Robert Mathews fired past keeper Conor Whyte. A further good brace of points from the stick of Conor Murphy had his side trailing by 2-3 to 0-5 at half time.

The second half proved to be a low scoring affair and it was nine minutes into the half when the eventual winners extended their lead when Tom Mathews effort was deflected over the bar by the keeper.

Moninne wasted a good goal opportunity and from the subsequent clearance midfielder Josh Finlay soloed in from the left wing before netting from a tight angle for his sides clinching third goal.

The holders sealed the win with two late points from Tom Mathews and Shane Curtis.

Afterwards the Feile trophy was presented

to the winning captain Tom Mathews by the Coiste Iomana Chairman Sean Byrne.
