Agm to vote on two-thirds majority rule

-

THE agm of the North East Football League takes place tonight (Tuesday) at 8pm in the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan, with a total of 19 motions put forward between the outgoing committee and member clubs Boyne Harps, Duleek and OMP United.

The most potentially radical motion - ‘To abolish current two-thirds majority system in favour of Majority Plus 4 System’ - which was put forward by Duleek - could, if adopted, pave the way for sweeping changes in the future as the two-thirds majority only marginally held the status quo on two of the five occasions where attempts were made to bring about a change to a calendar season.

Following a full review of the entire rulebook, the NEFL committee put forward a number of motions that, for the most part, tidied and added proposed greater clarity to various rules.

To follow along similar lines in place within a number of underage leagues, Duleek also proposed: ‘League to introduce proper registration ID System including club player photo packs, as done in all Schoolboy / Girl Leagues. To also introduce new match cards, with extra panel for player signatures, and block capital names, as done in some cup competitions. This could be introduced over period of time, say one season, given all clubs time to comply, before been punished for not doing so’. •The Annual Presentation Night will take place on Friday June 23rd in the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan.
