‘I don’t want her driving again’ warns judge

A MOTHER-of-five who was caught driving for the fifth time for having no insurance has been banned from driving for ten years.

Judge John Coughlan also imposed a €10 fine and said ‘I don’t want her driving again.’

Nicole Byrne (25) was stopped by Garda Paul Martin at a checkpoint at Beechwood Avenue in Drogheda on September 14th, 2016. She had no insurance and no driving licence. The defendant, of Clonmore Hale Street in Ardee, who was not in court, has 21 previous conviction­s, including four for driving without insurance.

Defence solicitor Eleanor Kelly said the 25 year old, who has five children, has had a number of difficulti­es throughout the years.
