Jenny Duignan and Michael Rourke want phone installed

-

THE residents of Hardman’s Gardens feel they are being neglected, especially when it comes to making phone calls.

A kiosk was erected five years ago but later removed due to damage.

But one householder, Michael Rourke, feels it was in the wrong place and was a plaything for children coming home from school.

‘I used try to look after the kiosk and often chased children away from it,’ he stated.

Jenny Duignan, 30 Hardman’s Gardens, agreed that it should be placed in a quieter place. ‘It is a disgrace that we are left in such a predicament. A telephone is a necessity in a built up area.’

Cllr Peter Moore called on the corporation to write to the minister, asking for the kiosk to be returned.

‘ There is an offer from a local shopkeeper who says that if the phone is placed beside his shop he will see that no harm comes to it.

Cllr Christy Kierans has also been advocating the phone for quite a while.
