Louth Live Reg falls by 14%

THE number of people on the Live Register in County Louth has fallen by over 14% since this time last year, it has been revealed.

The latest figures from the CSO show there were 4,505 people signing on in Drogheda during May.

Of these, 590 were under 25 and 3915 were aged 25 or over. Of those signing on last month 2,637 were male and 1,868 were female.

The figures show the numbers signing on are dropping with almost 1,000 fewer people signing on in May this year (4,505) compared to this time last year (5,419).

Overall there has been a decrease of 40.9% in the Live Register in Louth since February 2012.

Local TD Fergus O’Dowd has welcomed the statistics commenting: ‘ The number of people on the Live Register in May 2017 is the lowest number recorded since October 2008.
