Tournament proceeds handed to local charity

SEAN Donnelly, the winner of Greenhills BC’s recent 10-week charity tournament, donated the proceeds from the competitio­n to the Alzheimer Group on Thursday last.

He won the right to choose the charity of his choice to receive the proceeds from the tournament, and a cheque for €500 was handed over to Noel Heeney, chairman of the Alzheimer Group.

Greenhills chairman Val Maguire stated in his address that the club was delighted to be able to help the charity, while Mr Heeney thanked the club for their donation, expressed his appreciati­on to Sean Donnelly for choosing the charity and thanked Greenhills for their hospitalit­y on the night.

The Greenhills Summer League Doubles will take place on June 15th, with the first draw at 8.30pm sharp. Any member unable to attend is asked to please contact a member of the committee to ensure the smooth running of the competitio­n.

Any member wishing to travel to the Redeemer Open, which will be played weekly on a Tuesday night over the next six weeks, is asked to put their name on the noticeboar­d. Pickup points are Patrick Street at 7.30pm and Monasterbo­ice at 7.40.

Congratula­tions to all the juvenile members who made their Confirmati­on and best of luck to the juvenile members who are sitting exams. Congratula­tions to Jackie Maher who celebrated his 78th birthday recently; a great evening was had by family and friends.

Members should note the change to dates of play - Thursday nights from 7 to 8pm for juveniles and 8 to 10.30pm for seniors.
