MANNAN CASTLE

-

WITH a huge contrast in the conditions between Saturday and Sunday the weekend before last, it was no wonder that as many as possible chose to play Sunday in the competition sponsored by McDuff Construction, Corduff, Carrickmacross.

It was no surprise that some great scores were recorded, but what was a surprise was that we had three tied at the top on a whopping 44 points.

It was Kevin Ward who claimed first place after a countback, with Liam Murphy and John Minnock taking second and third.

Our Thursday opens are gaining momentum, with more playing every week. We especially like welcoming visitors to our course to play in the opens and will be kicking off our Super Thursday Opens soon.

Last Thursday week’s open was won by Donal McArdle with 44 points, beating Gerard Corbally into second place with 40.

Senior 10-hole competitions: May 23rd - 1st Neil Cunningham 23pts, 2nd Oliver Fox 23pts; May 16th - 1st Eamon Doherty 23pts, 2nd Eddie Hamm 22pts.

Thirty-five of Mannan Castle’s senior men enjoyed a wonderful day’s golf with a lovely meal in Ballymascanlon recently and the result was as follows: 1st Declan Whyte 41pts, 2nd Robert Browne 36pts, 3rd Eddie Rouiller 33pts, Visitors prize David McGuinness.
