Ardcath and Curragha do battle at Cushinstown - and raise over €10,000

-

THE National Schools of Ardcath and Curragha got together to compete in a Family Fun Day, which was organised by the Parents Associations of both schools - and after a day of action, over €10,000 was raised, which will be split between the two schools.

The support from local businesses and individuals was key to the event’s success and the funds generated will help the pupils of both schools through the provision of gym equipment, learning resources and classroom equipment.

Roy Cooney, Chairperson of Ardcath Parents Association said: ‘A big thanks to the parents and staff of both schools for their support, also to Cushinstown AC for providing the venue to us and to all those who helped plan, organise and help on the day. Without the assistance of the whole parish, the day would not have had such a successful outcome. On behalf of myself and Nick Storey from Curragha Parent’s Association, we’d like to thank all the volunteers and participants.’

After all the events were completed, the participants from Ardcath were deemed the winners of this inaugural competition while the Principals of both schools got a ceremonial soaking much to the delight of all the pupils and staff in attendance.
