FESTIVAL

Broomfield Festival 2017 got off to a flying start on Thursday night last, with the Set Dance Ceili. A full house as usual, with Triskell Ceili Band in fine tune, and Fear an Ti, John Mc Evoy in even finer fettle. Dancers came from far and near, with representa­tion from all the surroundin­g counties. The attendance enjoyed the best of food, music and dance, and no doubt will be back to Teach Riathneach in the future.

ST. COLUMCILLE’S MASS

St. Columcille’s Feast Day Mass will be celebrated in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Collon on Friday 9th June at 9.30 am and not at the time indicated on the Festival Brochure. St. Columcille’s Patron takes place on Friday 9th also at 7.30 pm. The Patron Ceremony will be conducted by Fr. Matt Carpenter who will also give a talk on Volunteeri­ng in Teach Raithneach after the Patron. Refreshmen­ts will be served. All those who Volunteere­d in our Community over the years are cordially invited to attend this event.

HISTORICAL TALK

The 1798 Rebellion in our Local Area delivered by Eamon Doyle, author of March into Meath, on Thursday 8th June at 8.00 pm in Teach Raithneach. Can you remember the following poem from your schooldays, and can you remember the authors Name?

We have commenced a fitness course provided by Seil Bleu. The course will continue over the next 25 weeks, starting at 9.50 am every Thursday morning. If you would like to take part come along and join us. During Broomfield Festival 2017 we are holding an Open Day, with arts and crafts, games, raffles, music, plus lots of food and beverages. Everybody welcome. We are also planning a trip to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum in Bangor on July 6th.

CROSS ROAD CEILI

The Cross Road Ceili returns this year to Grangegeet­h Cross on Sunday 11th June, 3 to 6 pm. Music by the Tara Ceili Band, Fear an Ti, John Mc Evoy. Dancing at the cross-roads, an age old tradition. Don’t miss it!

LADIES NIGHT

“All Things Beauty in Broomfield” on Thursday 15th June. Caroline McElroy, Stylist & TV presenter, Laura-Armada-Buch from the Juice-Lab, Make-up artist Juliet Morrow and Just In Boutique will all be in attendance. bags, jewellery, hair products, goodie bags etc. Tickets €15.
