MY SOCIAL LIFE AND ME.

Many years ago my mother, lord rest her soul, said I was one of the most uninteresting persons she knew, as I didn’t watch Oprah Winfrey and Robert Kilroy Silk on TV. I did and still do watch all the Soaps and all Quiz shows.

But, lately my social life has taken a turn for the better as I now go to Bingo and the Ferrard Day Centre every week and also with my discovery of liking all kinds of Music not just pop.

I recently attended a show in Seagrave House, Togher, only 3 miles down the road, and was transformed into a world of fabulous music in fantastic surroundings. Eugene Ginty, Tenor, Owen Gilhouley also Tenor and Simon Morgan, Baritone had all present at the edge of their seats with their selection and presentation of song. “All kinds of everything” come close to describing the quality and range of music provided for our enjoyment.

Guest on the night was Sandy Kelly whose main repertoire includes Patsy Cline but she also sang a selection of other tunes as well. The night was further enhanced by the background music supplied by John Cooke and the venue is out of this world, it’s like a fairyland theme. Worth a visit to appreciate it’s splendour.

The following week, I was in the Arts Centre, Drogheda to attend a Sean Tester show. Sean is also a Tenor and was accompanied on the night by Edward Holly, Piano and Keyboard, Des Moore Guitarist, Paul Moore, Base player, Guy Rickarby, Drums, Robert Finnegan, Saxophone, singers were: Clare Regan, Sharon Gaynor and Anthony Moore. This was another night of fantastic music and song and with Sean in his early 20’s he is not even in his prime yet.

It’s in his genes as both his grandfathers Sean and Reggie were marvellous singers. The raffle on the night was in aid of the Dive Unit for the Irish Underwater Search and Recovery Unit of which Sean and his dad Reggie are both members.

FERRARD DAY VISITORS.

If you passed the Community Hall on Wednesday last I hope you weren’t concerned when you saw the Garda Car outside? No, the group members and volunteers were not up to mischief, it was Superintendent Andrew Watters from Drogheda Garda Station come to visit us. He was accompanied by our Sgt. Ann Byrne and Garda Mark Kirwan and had a great chat with us all on the day. We were all delighted to see the Garda coming down and chatting with our members and advising them on security. Thank you all very much.
