Refused jurisdiction

-

Judge John Coughlan has refused jurisdiction of the case in which a Duleek resident is charged with producing a fraudulent document at the Marriage Registry Office, Haymarket, Drogheda on September 3, 2014.

Gda Darren Fitzpatrick, Immigration Officer, gave evidence of arresting Faiz Muhammad at Drogheda Station on June 3, 2017.

He said that the accused, a Pakistani native, answered ‘OK’ after caution. He said he was applying to have the accused remanded on bail.

‘ This is a serious charge,’ Judge Coughlan commented.

Gda Fitzpatrick said he was confident that the accused wouldn’t abscond as he had made an arrangement to go to the Garda Station after he had called to his house.

Solicitor Mr Paddy Godwin said his client had been living in Ireland for seven years. He was here legally.

After refusing jurisdiction, Judge Coughlan adjourned the case until September for the preparation of a Book of Evidence.
