Couple make appeal for Louth drivers

- BY HUBERT MURPHY

PAUL and Karen McGoven, the Dromin couple who are walking from Mizen Head to Malin Head in aid of MS Ireland, are in need of drivers,

As part of their marathon walk, they have a back up vehicle, but need a constant stream of drivers to take the controls.

‘We’d love to get some people from Louth down to help out,’ Paul stated.

‘Maybe if someone is on holidays, they can get in contact and help us out,’ he added.

The pair left Co Cork last Sunday week and by last weekend were heading into Dingle, with Listowel next, then Tarbert and into Co Clare for the long march up to Donegal.

Paul has MS but says he has managed to get through the first week and is determined to battle on.

‘It rained for three days last week, all day,’ he revealed.

The walk has the backing of Centra and each of the supermarkets on the way are holding their own fundraising days for the couple.

‘We’ve been to two so far and they have raised €1,500 which is terrific. We have a long way to go yet.’

He says the couple are determined to keep going, no matter the weather, and the plan is to be back in Dorians near Dunleer on July 22.
