Marks & Spencer do their bit for SOSAD

- BY HUBERT MURPHY

VOLUNTEERS from Marks & Spencer showed their true community spirit last week when spending a few days painting the walls at the SOSAD offices on Magdalene Street.

They even got the paint together to do the job, much to the delight of Peter Moroney.

‘I’d like to thank them for all their hard work for us. The place is looking nice and bright,’ he added.

And while the work of the M&S crew was greatly appreciated, the centre continues to fundraise on a regular basis with a few big events on the horizon.

This Friday, June 16, at the Fair Green Lounge, there’s a fun Race Night to raise much needed funds for SOSAD.

Horses are on sale now for just €10 each and there will be betting on the tote on the night. For the last race of the night, all the horses will be auctionsed off on the night and prizes will be available for the owners of all the winning horses.

Entry is free but you can buy your own racehorse for just €10. It starts at 9pm.

The major fundraiser of the year is also on the horizon.

The 5k for Life is on July 21 and it starts at 7pm from Aura.

The organisers are hoping to get a big crowd out on the night and have moved the event to July in the hope of getting better weather.

More information on how to enter the event is available from SOSAD.
