Geraghty off in Drums’ win
DRUMCONRATH 2-12 CLANN NA NGAEL 0-6
GRAHAM Geraghty was one of three players sent off as his side suffered their second defeat in the JFC at Carlanstown last Saturday evening.
Geraghty saw red for an offthe-ball incident in the second half and he was one of two Athboy players to be dismissed by referee Martin Dawson, along with Drumconrath’s Terry Skelly.
The win for Drumconrath puts them back in the frame in Group A and they were well on their way to victory after leading 2-6 to 0-5 at half-time. Both goals came from Brendan Lyons, the first on 13 minutes and the second five minutes later.
Drumconrath led by nine approaching half-time before Clann na nGael finished with the last two points of the half.
The second half was seven minutes old before Clann na nGael added to their tally, but this proved to be their only score of the half. Drumconrath failed to register in the third quarter, but they then hit six unanswered points in what was a scrappy final period to win comfortably.
