Geraghty off in Drums’ win

GRAHAM Geraghty was one of three players sent off as his side suffered their second defeat in the JFC at Carlanstow­n last Saturday evening.

Geraghty saw red for an offthe-ball incident in the second half and he was one of two Athboy players to be dismissed by referee Martin Dawson, along with Drumconrat­h’s Terry Skelly.

The win for Drumconrat­h puts them back in the frame in Group A and they were well on their way to victory after leading 2-6 to 0-5 at half-time. Both goals came from Brendan Lyons, the first on 13 minutes and the second five minutes later.

Drumconrat­h led by nine approachin­g half-time before Clann na nGael finished with the last two points of the half.

The second half was seven minutes old before Clann na nGael added to their tally, but this proved to be their only score of the half. Drumconrat­h failed to register in the third quarter, but they then hit six unanswered points in what was a scrappy final period to win comfortabl­y.
