THE Open Four Lady Team Event was played on 3rd and 6th June in aid of Hospice and Homecare. This competitio­n was sponsored by The Hair Shop. This is one of the busiest and most anticipate­d competitio­ns of the season.

With a full timesheet on Saturday and Tuesday the scoring did not disappoint. Fifty four team participat­ed and there was only one team lead by Sally McDonnell which was victorious. Sally, Mary, Laura and Deirdre were not deterred by the very windy conditions and scored a fantastic 90pts. It was great to see a visiting team from Mannan Castle coming runners up with 86pts. Congratula­tions to all the winners.

At the presentati­on evening Lady Captain Maeve thanked the sponsors from The Hair Shop. They are huge supporters of the ladies section and have been for many years. The ladies from Dundalk Golf Club raised in excess of seven thousand euros for Hospice and Homecare in Dundalk. Bernie Herr from Hospice and Homecare spoke of the work this organisati­on do to support people and their families suffering from cancer. She was delighted with the money raised and spoke about how it would help in so many different ways for those enduring the pain of cancer.

Louth, Greenore, Dunmurray, Edenderry, Headfort, Milltown, Malahide, Mannan Castle, Naas, Nuremore, Rossmore, Rathfarnha­m, Seapoint, Sutton & Warrenpoin­t Result: 1st Sally McDonnell (29), Mary Burlingham (33), Laura Hackett (23), Deirdre Smith (-1) 90pts; 2nd Mary McCabe (18), Mary Cassidy (15), Imelda Hanratty (29) & Angela McBride (27) 86pts (Mannan Castle); 3rd Una Delany (18) Joyce Connolly (22), Kate Smith (25), Joan Sexton (27) 84pts 9 -hole competitio­n: Teresa Byrne (29) 16/12 pts.
