UPSURGE IN NUMBER OF BIKE THEFTS SHOWS NO SIGNS OF SLOWING

THE SPATE of bicycle thefts in the area in recent weeks shows no signs of letting up.

A number of incidents were reported to gardai in the past week, with the majority taken from garden sheds.

Gardai have again urged the public to purchase locks for sheds in a bid to twart raiders.

They also urge people to take pictures of their bikes in case of theft.

On June 13th last, a shed at Rosehall was broken into and two bikes taken. One was a black trek bike and the other a red Apollo mountain bike.

On June 15th, between 7.30am and midday, a shed was entered at Brookville and a racing bike stolen.

On Friday, a shed in Castle Manor on the Ballymaken­ny Road was broken into and two bikes and a hoverboard were taken. The hoverboard was recovered nearby.

One of the bikes is a Felt mountain bike and the second a green and black mountain bike.

On Saturday, June 17th, overnight, a red and black Trek bike was taken from a shed in Brookville.

There was an attempted break in to a shed at 4am on Monday morning in Castle Manor, Ballymaken­ny Road.

A resident of Brookside Lodge, Ballymaken­ny Road, awoke to find their shed doors wide open on June 18th. A Cobra set of golf clubs and a power washer were stolen.
