‘Don’t make €120 mistake I did’ - clamped woman warns

‘It has put me off coming back into the centre of Drogheda to do my shopping’

-

MOTORISTS using the former Supervalu car park on Stockwell Street - now operated by a private company - have been warned - ‘watch out for the clampers’.

A Stamullen woman, who parked there late last week found herself with a €120 release fee after she was clamped.

‘I actually hadn’t been in that car park for three years,’ she stated, recalling the last time there was a barrier there where you collected a ticket and paid when you were leaving.

But the new system caught her out, and quite a few others too it seems.

‘I thought it was free to be honest and only noticed the signs and machines after I was clamped. They need to be a lot more obvious,’ she stated.

‘ Three other people were also done, so that was €480 alone,’ she added.

‘I feel it would be fair if the car park operators had somebody on site to warn people parking there of the new system, instead of the clampers just coming in.

‘I was clamped at 10.51am and it wasn’t released until 12.55pm.

‘It has turned me off coming into the centre of Drogheda to shop and I’ll be telling other people about my experience,’ she added.
