Woman fined €500 and disqualifi­ed from driving

A WOMAN who drove without insurance has been convicted, fined €500 and disqualifi­ed from driving for two years.

Janice Thornton (35) failed to appear before Drogheda District Court to answer the summons and Judge John Coughlan proceeded with the case in her absence.

Garda Arthur O’Donoghue gave evidence he stopped the defendant, who has an address at Moneymore in Drogheda, on July 31st at 8.05pm at Moneymore.

He said the NCT had expired in February 2016, the car tax had expired in April 2015 and there was no insurance disc displayed on the vehicle.

He said the defendant failed to produce her documents at Drogheda Garda Station after she nominated the station to produce them at.

She has no previous conviction­s.
