Combat Bullying:
A Whole School Program
MEATH Partnership is currently collaborating with a team of partners from across five European countries on an innovative project which aims to tackle the incidence of bullying in our primary and post-primary schools. This project, called “Combat Bullying: A Whole School Program” (ComBuS), is aimed at empowering students, teachers, school staff, principals, and parents to combat bullying and create healthy and safe school communities. We have developed a toolkit of resources for parents, teachers and school principals which are now freely available to use online. These training materials and resources can be found on the project website: http://www.combatbullying. eu/index.php/en/toolkit.
With the support of 3 local schools, Meath Partnership delivered activities from the Com- BuS Toolkit across County Meath in March and April 2017. As part of our work with local schools, we provided a series of workshops on the topics of identifying, understanding and preventing bullying. Meath Partnership worked with school principals and teachers in Gilson National School in Oldcastle, Scoil Mhuire in Moylagh and Scoil Catriona Naofa in Oristown, Kells to deliver informative, fun and interactive workshops that got students talking about how to tackle bullying in their school.
Feedback from these workshops has been very positive and encouraging, highlighting the importance of combatting bullying through the engagement of all the partners in a child’s education such as teachers, parents, school support staff, principals, and importantly, the children and young people.
