Roche in top form at blitz

ROCHE Under 9s played a blitz in Kilkerley on Monday evenin against the hosts and John Mitchel’s.

Roche started brightly and played great football in all three matches.

Some early points scored by Lee and Conor settled Roche into the games.

Midfield had great possession throughout all three matches thanks to Niamh, Kyle and Ronan.

The defence was solid throughout due to resolute defending from Nicole, Eimear, Donal and Ruairi. Adam scored some crucial points for Roche especially in the second game when the teams came under pressure.

Elsewhere the Roche U12 travelled to Ardee to play against the unbeaten St Mary’s on Wednesday evening. Dry sunny conditions allowed both teams to put on a very entertaini­ng joust.

Ardee settled the quickest and raced into a four point lead.

The Roche lads finally found their groove and stormed back with two well worked goals. The match remained evenly balanced at half time with St Marys holding a two point advantage.

The game continued in its end to end fashion with some brilliant scores from both sides. Ardee just had enough to see them up the final straight to edge a great match by four points on a score of 4-12 to 6-2.
