Duleek warm to Phoenix Pk
A NUMBER of Duleek & District AC athletes were prominent amongst the thousands of runners who sizzled and sweated their way around Phoenix Park last Saturday at the Irish Runner 5-Mile Road Race.
The event, which traditionally has marked the commencement of the Dublin Race Series, this year operated on a standalone basis and there were sweltering temperatures well in excess of 20 degrees for the large field which took part.
The effervescent Anne Hamilton and Sandra Cassin were once again to the fore. Two of the most prolific athletes within the club, they both put in great performances and eclipsed the 47-minute mark.
This was the second five-mile race in the space of six days for Anne and Sandra, having completed the Howth 5-Mile Road Race the previous Sunday. Equally impressive were Orla Hillman and Tara Dillon who clocked times of 47:33 and 54:28 respectively, while Greg Dixon put in his second excellent performance in the same week, finishing in just over 42 minutes.
