Fitting last farewell to wonderful lady May

-

IT was with deep sadness and disbelief that the residents of Duleek and other areas heard of the death of their great friend and neighbour May Heeney of St. Cianan’s Villas. She passed away on Tuesday 30th of May after a long illness with her family around her in Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.

She was born May Cluskey in Oldbridge in the parish of Donore on 7th July 1937.

As a child she went to Donore National School. Some time after that the family went to live in Sheephouse. It was from there she got working in Wilson and McBrinn clothing factory in Mell, Drogheda where she made many friends.

Some years later she met the love of her life Kevin Heeney. They got married in August 1960 and they were blessed with six of a family, four sons and two daughters.

She was predeceased by her husband Kevin in 2002 and also by her brother John in 2014.

She is survived by her four sons - Paul, Aidan, John and Colm and by her two daughters Margaret and Sinead, her sister Olive Whearty, her sons in law Jimmy Sheridan and Conor Flaherty, her daughter in laws Fiona, Ruth Noeleen and Dawn, her fifteen grandchildren and five great grand children, many cousins and a large circle of friends. Not forgetting her brothers in law and sisters in law.

Her remains were removed from her home on Thursday morning to St. Cianan’s church for funeral mass at 11 o clock celebrated by Father John Conlon, assisted by Father Noel Weir from Mornington.

The lovely singing during mass was performed by Ann Marie Powderly.

After mass she was laid to rest beside her husband Kevin in Holy Cross cemetery. At the very end of the ceremony her son John and his friend Tom played and sang a beautiful tune in memory of his mother.

May she rest in peace.
