BETTYSTOWN BEACH BONANZA BLAST

The annual sand castling and sand sculpturing competition on Bettystown beach is just around the corner. It begins on Saturday July 1st, beginning at 10 am until 5 pm. Beach cricket will take place on the Saturday as well as other events such as beach races and other enjoyable pass times. A number of cricket teams will take place in this beach cricket tournament. Each team will have six players using a bat and tennis ball. Each six-person team will have to be registered, and the registration fee is €60 (€10.00 per person). Then on the following day (Sunday) the sand castling and sand sculpting takes place. The sand sculpting takes place at 10.30 am and the sand castling begins at 2.30 pm. Judging and prize giving will take place at 4.30 pm. There are prizes for first, second and third for each category in the sand castling, under5yrs; under/8 yrs, under/13 yrs and family. Junior and senior winners will receive cash prizes. The Dick O’Reilly perpetual cup will go to whomsoever the judges deem to have given the best effort of the day. This is the fifteenth year of the beach festival and every year has seen an incremental increase in attendance. Enjoy.

MEATH LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

This pilgrimage will take place from Sept 12th until the 17th Sept and will be led by bishop Michael Smith. The fare is €729 for full board including insurance and travel taxes. In relation to any person that might be in hospital or a sick person in our community who might wish to go on this pilgrimage, anyone who may know someone in the area who would like to go please contact 04127384. The Fr Willie Memorial parish walk to Slane will take place on Saturday July 22nd. The Meath diocesan pilgrimage to knock will take place on Sunday 13th August.

B–5 BETTYSTOWN 5 MILE

Registration is open for the B-5 sponsored once again by NSP. Taking place on Tuesday 18th July. The race starts at 8pm (walkers start at 7:40) There is a free t-shirt to the first 300 registered. We are giving a fantastic medal to all Finishers. Like last year we are doing all cash prizes to the value of over €2000. We have a special Bring a Buddy Rate of €17.50 each (Individual price is €20). We have group rates for 15 or more people for €15 (plus online transaction fee) Spread the word please because when the first 300 are registered these T-shirts are gone.
