WE OWE SO MUCH TO MOTHER MARY

-

MAYOR Pio Smith paid tribute to Mother Mary Martin and the MMM community for their dedication to Drogheda and those worldwide during the visit of Prince Albert.

Speaking at the Highlanes, he said Prince Rainier and Princess Grace had visited Our Lady of Lourdes in 1961 at the invitation of Mother Mary, thus sparking the link with Monaco.

‘We also share the red and white,’ he quipped, remarking that Monaco and the Wee County proudly wear the same colours.

He acknowledged the prince’s appreciation of biodiversity and recognised it formed a part of his trip to Drogheda too.

Tidy Towns chairman Kevin Callan, who also played a leading role in the event, spoke of the great honour that had been bestowed on the town by the visit.

He acted as the very able MC at the rose garden opening, stating that the garden had been a year long project and it was wonderful to see it delivered for the town to enjoy.

‘ Thank you for all attending,’ he added, as he acknowledged the great turn out.
