Joe Woods home to Beaulieu from USA
1969: HOME on holidays for the first time in 44 years is Mr. Joe Woods, Beaulieu, Drogheda. Mr. Woods left Ireland in May 1925, emigrating to New Rochelle, New York. His impression of Drogheda after such a long period away is that ‘ the town is much larger and more industrial, while the skirts are very much shorter.”
Although living in New York for forty-four years, Mr. Woods has not married and says that he has no intentions of doing so. These sentiments seem to be shared by the rest of his family, for he has three brothers, Jack, Peter, and Willie Woods, and one sister Annie Woods, all of Beaulieu, who have also remained single. Lane, and Michael Rossborough, 173, Pearse Park. They made a collection of old clothes from people in their area and had the sale on Monday and Thursday evenings.
