DREADNOTS NAOMH MAIRTIN 2-11 0-10

DREADNOTS moved top of the Division 1 table on Tuesday night when they recorded an impressive victory over early pace-setters, Naomh Mairtin at Monasterboice.

This was a tight affair for the first quarter but the visitors had the better scoring opportunities and failed to take all their chances. However, they got a goal after 12 minutes and their next score was another goal after 21 minutes from lively corner forward Carl Monaghan who was a constant threat throughout the game.

County man Sam Mulroy scored for points from play in the first half, two of which came just before half to cut the gap at the break to 2-2 to 0-6.

The Mairtins scored the first point of the second half through Conor Healy, but the Dreadnots kicked four unanswered points to really take control. The home side rallied again and claimed three points in two minutes, but failed to score for the last 19 minutes of the game. Clogher tagged on another four points to run out comfortable winners in the end.
