SEAN O’MAHONYS KILKERLEY EMMETS 2-15 2-6

SEAN O’Mahonys are just a point off the top of Division 1 after a strong second half display saw them account for Kilkerley Emmets on Tuesday night.

The game featured brothers Seamus (O’Mahonys) and Cillian (Kilkerley) line out in goal for their respective teams but it was the older sibling who earned the family bragging rights on the night.

The home side that opened the scoring through Cillian Kampes, but Conor Finnegan levelled before Shane Lennon edged his side in front. Tadgh McEneaney and Stephen Kilcoyne struck a brace each to leave the Emmets 0-4 to 0-3 ahead.

However, the O’Mahonys picked up the pace and pointed through Ben McLaughlin and Stephen Fisher before the former struck the net in injury time just after James Fegan and Darren Meehan missed goal chances at the other end.

Meehan did score a late point to cut the gap to 1-6 to 0-5 at the break but within seconds of the restart Kilkerley were facing an uphill task as Conor Crawley struck his side’s second goal followed by points from David Dowling and Vinny Smith.

Kilkerley did give themselves hope with goals from Lennon (penalty) and Daniel McKeown, but the O’Mahonys put an end to the comeback with late points from Finnegan (2) and Kilcoyne.
