SCOIL MHUIRE GAN SMAL

It has been a busy year at Scoil Mhuire gan Smal. Last Friday, boys and girls in 6th Class attended the Bio Diversity Conference in the Boyne Valley Hotel, Drogheda which was addressed by Prince Albert II of Monaco.

They displayed a project on Bio Diversity along with a number of other local primary schools. It is also worth pointing out that the Conference was hosted by Philip Mc Cabe from Beaulieu who is President of Apimondia (World Federation of Bee Keepers). No doubt this was a major honour for them.

The boys and girls from 6th Class also had their Graduation Ceremony following the School Mass which was celebrated by Fr. Aidan Murphy P.P. A very successful Sports Day was also held. While on the subject of sport, the School Hurling team made it to the Final in Cumann na mBunscoil held in Darver, unfortunately victory eluded them in the final. The Football team reached the Louth Schools Semi-Final and while their run ended there, gace a great account of themselves. The boys and girls in 5th Class displayed their business skills by winning the “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” Award. Well done to them.

Another boost for the School was the S.T.E.M Award presented for how the children apply Science, Technology and Maths to their work. The Drogheda Motor Weekend held recently also proved to be a good one for Scoil Mhuire gan Smal as they won the “Design a Mascot School’s Challenge” and were presented with a €300 “Opening Minds” voucher. With results like that during the year, the future is bright for the children in Scoil Mhuire gan Smal.

Well done to all the boys and girls, not forgetting Principal Edel Victory and the teaching staff.
