Man arrested after he exposed himself

- Fiona MAGENNIS

ONE man has been arrested after he exposed himself to two teenage girls in Dominic’s Park last week.

The two sixteen year old girls were in the park when a man in his late 30s or early 40s began acting oddly and watching them closely.

The man then proceeded to expose himself to the shocked pair and masturbated in front of them before attempting to approach the two teenagers.

The girls quickly made their escape and ran to Drogheda Garda Station where they reported what had just happened.

On foot of the information they provided to gardaí, one man was arrested a short time later.

The mother of one of the girls involved contacted the Drogheda Independent in order to warn parents and women who use the park about what had happened and about the potential dangers of visiting local parks alone. The incident happened at around 6pm on Sunday, June 25th.

Meanwhile, gardaí are investigating two separate incidents at each of the Lidl stores in town.

There was an attempted burglary at the Lidl in the M1 Retail Park on Tuesday, June 27th. The front door panel of the building was forced open but nothing was taken from the premises. The second incident took place at the site of the new two story LIDL on the Donore Road when a security guard received minor injuries after he was assaulted. The incident took place on July 1st at around 6pm and one person was later arrested.
