Youth arrested after bike theft
ONE youth has been arrested following the theft of two bicycles from a shed in Forest Grange last week.
The incident happened in the Forest Grange estate on Monday, June 26th when a shed at the property was broken into and two bikes were taken.
The incident is one of a large number of bicycle thefts in estates on the northside of town over the past three weeks, however a garda spokesperson said it ‘remains to be seen’ if there is a connection between this robbery and the others which have taken place recently. He said one youth was arrested with the bikes in nearby Castlemanor but a second youth, also believed to have been involved, got away.
Meanwhile, gardaí are also investigating a number of other burglaries in the local area over the past week. A house in Lia Bhreaga was broken into overnight between 5pm on Monday, June 26th and 10.30am the following morning. A shed at the property was broken into and a garden strimmer and a toolbox containing a number of tools was taken. A house in Maple Drive was broken into last Tuesday between 1pm and 3pm. A back door at the property was forced open and a small quantity of cash was taken.
The occupants of a home at Tullydonnell, Togher were alerted to a burglary shortly after 12am last Thursday after hearing noise out in the garden and a vehicle driving away. When they went to investigate they discovered that a number of tools including chainsaws and strimmers had been taken.
