JACK Dempsey, who knocked out Jess Willard in Toledo to become boxing champion of the world, has still plenty of punch left in him.

So reports Mr. Neil Walker of Chord Rd., Drogheda, who met this famed boxer in his own restaurant in Broadway, New York, while on a visit to his brother Aidan and his Dublin-born wife, Carmel in Long Island. This was Mr. Walker’s first visit to his brother, who left his native Drogheda nine years ago. a fortnight ago. Eight survivors, including another Ballyvatey man Mr. Robert McDonnell, were landed at Gibraltar. also received the Erasmus School Scholarshi­p and went to Trinity College for two years before going to England. He was a prominent member of the school football team and also played for Newtown Blues G.F.C.

He is returning to University in September to study for an Advanced Diploma in Municipal Authority.
