Playing true grassroots football in Termonfeckin

-

GO-AHEAD local soccer club Termonfeckin Celtic FC are throwing away the goalposts and whitewashed lines and just letting girls and boys kick ball on the Sheetland Road.

The club has started ‘Street Football’ albeit on grass for the summer months (right).

Two nights a week, boys and girls from 6-14 come along, two jumpers are thrown down for goalposts, two teams are picked and off they go.

In the first few weeks they have been getting approx 70/80 kids to show up and with the primary schools closed that promises to rise.

It’s fun and non-competitive and great exercise - and it’s free.

Maybe a few more should follow Termonfeckin’s example.
