Over €2,000 raised for the Louth Pallative Care services

-

A charity Whist Drive was held in Drumshallon Forge Heritage Centre, Monasterboice in honour of the late Winnie Conlon (pictured), and on the night €2008.00 was raised for the Louth Specialist Palliative Care.

This is a cause close to the heart of Winnie’s family. “The Palliative Care was there to care for mammy during her illness and also for daddy who passed away in July 2013. Without the Palliative Care team we would not have been able to care for mammy at home, and with their help and the night nurses this was possible. They do tremendous work and are always at the end of the phone. We cannot thank them enough; it is an honour and a pleasure to have raised this money so that other families can have the same help,’ a family spokesperson stated.

Winnie loved nothing more than going to a game of Whist (which she did every night) and no place was too near or too far. It was a passion very close to her heart and it was also a place to meet her friends and socialise.

The Whist Drive would not have been such a success if her kind friends had not turned up on the night and for that the family would like to thank all of them.

‘We would also like to thank Drumshallon Forge who donated the hall and to all who donated prizes,’ they added.
