McDermotts inflict heavy defeat on tired Brides outfit

SEAN MCDERMOTTS 4-13 ST BRIDES 2-6 SEAN McDermotts moved into fifth position in Division 3 as they inflicted a fourth successive defeat on St Brides at Mountrush on Sunday evening.

For many of St Brides players it was their fourth game in six days and signs of fatigue were noticed immediatel­y and they trailed 3-5 to 0-3 at the interval.

Cathal McKenna found the net within the first two minutes after the restart, when his close in free kick found the back of the Sean’s net. This gave the visitors a lifeline, however this was short lived, as at the opposite end the men in green and red upped their game ad found the net themselves in addition to some well taken points.

The hosts dominated proceeding­s in the first half and did so again late in the second half to run out convincing winners by 13 points.

Peter Osborne grabbed two goals for the McDermotts while Kevin McMahyon and Lorcan Myles also hit the net.
