Rita Moriarity played very good golf on day two winning the third position. Diane Arthur had a fantastic day two playing superb golf coming in with a 70nett and scooping the fourth place. The gross went to Ann Hopper who is on great form this year. This day was full of excitement with Pauline Murphy also having a having hole in one on the fifth. This has to be a record. At the presentation evening the ladies turned out in huge numbers and had lovely food prepared by Chef Ronan Lawless. The ladies danced the night away to music by John Morrison and Neil McLoughlin. Lady Captain Maeve looked stunning and presented Berni MacGuinness with the overall prize. Berni spoke about how delighted she was to win Maeve’s stunning prize. She thought at one stage she had blown her chances but came back fighting. She said this day will be etched in her memory forever. Lady Captain Maeve made an emotional speech speaking about her long association with Dundalk Golf Club and how both her parents taught her to play golf. Her mother was a very good golfer and passed on her love of golf to Maeve. She spoke about her beautiful sister Oonagh Coleman who was much loved and missed by the ladies in Dundalk Golf Club. The well renowned putting Competition was won by Gina Ratigan and Sheila Coyle. Maeve recognised how inspirational these ladies are and how Sheila joined the club in 1961 and held a course record for some time with a 78Gross. She thanked the Greenkeeper Damien English and his team for all their work in getting the course ready for this major competition.
