Laurence Centre team host Alzheimer’s match

-

THE annual challenge match for the Alzheimer Perpetual Trophy takes place on Saturday, July 22.

The match between the Laurence Centre and a Dublin selection takes place at the DroghedaTown grounds at Marian Park.

Organised by Barry Higgins from the Laurence hosts, the match is now an established fixture in the soccer calendar.

As the trophy name suggests, the match raises funds for the proposed new day care centre for the Drogheda Branch of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

This is the third year the trophy has been contested and it is always a keenly-fought match.

The event is sponsored by businesses in the Laurence Centre and other traders.

The organisers have expressed their thanks once again this year to Mick Toner and the committee of Drogheda Town for facilitating them in the holding of the match.

Meanwhile, the Alzheimer Society is taking a break from its monthly Memory Cafe event, covering different aspects of Alzheimer’s, until September.

The Society fund-raising chairman. Ann Shortt, said :’’ These events have proved very popular and we are very grateful to Denise and her staff at Relish Cafe for hosting the evenings’’.
