Pedestrian crossing at Termonfeckin NS

-

LOUTH County Council has said it will investigate the need for a pedestrian crossing outside the national school in Termonfeckin. The issue was raised in a notice of motion by Councillor Oliver Tully who asked that Louth County Council install a pedestrian corssing outside Scoil Nausinta Naomh Fechin on the R167. Councillor Tully said Termonfeckin NS was probably only one of a handful of schools where you have to cross a road to get to the school. He said the regional road is a very busy one both from commercial traffic and cars. Cllr Tully said a pedestrian crossing would make a huge difference to safety. ‘Flashing lights and a zebra crossing are what is needed here to make it safer for the huge numbers of students attending the school,’ he said. Responding to the motion, the council said the matter will be investigated and the need for a pedestrian crossing examined. However, they said the provision of such measures is subject to the availability of funding.
