CONGRATULA­TIONS to our men’s team who won their first match of the championsh­ip on Friday evening in Stabannon. The final score was Hunterstow­n 1-10 St.Fechins 0-09. Hunterstow­n Rovers face St.Mochtas in the next round of the championsh­ip.

Bingo takes place every Friday night in the Ardee Parish Centre at 8 pm. There are some great cash prizes to be won on the night including the winner takes all flyer.

CONGRATULA­TIONS to Mitchels player John Gallagher on reaching a Leinster Final in Croke Park this Sunday 16th July with the Louth Minor Team. Louth defeated Wexford in a close nail biting encounter in Wexford last Tuesday to reach the first Leinster Minor Final since 1971.

The juveniles are holding a Recycled Used Clothing Collection until Wed 12th July in the clubrooms! So start clearing out those cupboards and wardrobes in aid of a great cause! All monies raised will go to the club Juveniles as we continue to have ever growing numbers at training on Friday evenings! Thanks for your support.

Juvenile Training continues every Friday evening in the pitch at 6.30pm until 7.30pm. We provide football for all ages starting at Nursery, U7, U9 upwards. Registrati­on is FREE and there is NO CHARGE for training. Newcomers are always welcome!

Well done to our U9s who participat­ed in two blitzes recently and worked really well as a team, tackling, passing the ball, scoring and having fun! Also great work by our U7s who played in a blitz in Haggardsto­wn Sunday week.

NEWTOWN BLUES

THE first round of the championsh­ip saw the Senior men out against Kilkerley in Castlebell­ingham on Saturday night. The men finished on top taking control of the game in the first half with some great scores and link play. Their next match is against the Dreadnots in the Gaelic Grounds on Friday 14th July at 8.15pm.

On top of our Senior men’s win on Saturday night it was busy for our underage players over the week.

A special mention to Alan Connor and the Louth Minor team that have secured a spot in the Leinster Minor Football Final after a great win against Wexford last Wednesday night. The last time Louth reached the final was in 1971! The team will face Dublin on the 17th July

Our U10 Boys & Girls were in Monasterbo­ice on Monday night for their regional blitz competitio­n.

The U13 boys had their first league game against St. Kevins on Wednesday and goals were the key factor that saw the team miss out on a win.

Our U10 girls were busy on Saturday morning in Mattock Rangers for their blitz competitio­n.

Our U16 girls were in Monasterbo­ice for week 2 of the Becky Woods Tournament minus Emma McDonald, Roisin Crowe and Jade Connor as they were busy as the Louth U16 girls played in their Leinster Blitz competitio­n.

We also had Enna Farrell and Zara Mc Ginn enjoying the action at the Lidl Future Stars Events.

Some of our stars of the future were in action on Sunday as we hosted the Oliver Plunketts in an U7’s blitz. Well done to all the players and a big thanks to all the mentors for their constant efforts keeping our players busy.

Training continues each Saturday 11-12 for all ages and we welcome all new faces. Come down and try it out.

Also the Cúl Camp takes place from 10th - 14th July in Newtown Blues and places are still available.

THE Club were delighted to welcome the President-elect John Horan, the Mayor Pius Smith and Cathaoirle­ach Choiste Chondae Des Halpenny among others to the club premises last Saturday to the launch of our 5-year Developmen­t Plan. This plan will serve as a blueprint for future activities of the club and greatly assist in reaching goals and targets outlined. The occasion was used also to unveil our new sponsors SuperMacs who provided free pizzas to the large gathering of members present.

The Cúl Camp was held this past week and the numbers attending was increased considerab­ly on last year. A good time was had by all as the weather was brilliant and the craic was mighty!

The club wishes the Louth Minors and their mentors all the best next week in Croke Park for the Leinster Final. We will be there to support you!

THE Seam O’Mahony senior team begin their defense of their Louth Senior Championsh­ip title next Saturday evening in Dunleer against the Ardee st Mary’s, the team they defeated in the final last September. As the Mary’s v St Joseph’s first round game on Saturday night ended in a draw last Saturday night, one win next Saturday night or the following weekend against the Joe’s will guarantee our lads safe passage to the knockout stages from their 3 team group.

Our senior team were beaten by 9 points last Thursday night by a well drilled Naomh Martin side. The home side had a good start, going a goal up half way through the first half when John O’Brien collected the ball in his own half and powered through to the 14 yard line before offloading to his cousin Ben McLoughlin who smashed the ball between the goalie and the corner back, into the net with his left foot. St Martin’s then took the lead with 4 points in a row, before netting their own first goal, in between 2 Conor Finnegan frees to leave a half time score of 1-6 to 1-4 to the visitors. The Martins were on top of their game in the second half, and scored a further 2-6 to the home team’s 5 points to leave a final score of 1-9 to 3-12.
