No stopping Tara!

-

THERE seems to be no stopping Boyne AC athlete Tara Meier, who once again took the top spot on the winners podium, with a spectacular win in the 80mh at the All Ireland Track and Field Championships on Saturday last.

Leading the field from the outset, Meier clocked 11.59 to comfortably take Gold, and sets her up nicely for her Schools International debut this Saturday in Santry. Also warming up for the Schools competition, Ruarcan OGibne took Silver in the steeplechase.

Boyne also had great success in the field events, where Euan Canniffe and Cathal Monaghan both took Bronze in thier Javelin competitions.

There were also superb performance from Anna Faulkner in the 800m and Aaron Fennel in the Shot Putt.

Sunday saw Aaron back in action, this time in the Turbo Javelin, where amidst tough competition, a throw of 30.98 secured him the bronze medal, while clubmate Paddy Price threw a PB of 27.38m.

Looking to add to his indoor sprint title, young Killian Ekhator kept his cool as he took to the blocks for his 60m sprint, but despite a fantastic sprint in 8.41s, he was unlucky to just miss out on a medal by .02 of a second, finishing in a commendable 4th overall.

Day 3 of the competition takes place this Sunday, and with the Schools International on Saturday, another great weekend of athletics is guaranteed.
