The blessings of the graves ceremony will take place in Kilsharvan cemetery on Friday next July 14th at 7.30 pm.

GOLF CLASSIC

LAFFEY LYNE TRUST

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that is passed on from infected ticks to humans. Animals like deer, sheep, mice etc are liable to carry these ticks, which are blood suckers, and if the animals which carry these ticks are infected the ticks can pass on the infection to people who may come into contact with the animals. Areas like woodlands and heathlands is a popular location for ticks.

Lyme disease can be extremely difficult to diagnose as it can have similarsym­ptoms of many other ailments which can lead the diagnoses down blind alleys.

It is also a very serious ailment. It can produce serve symptoms that affect various parts of the body such as joints, nerves, brain, eyes, and heart.

Two sisters from Curraha Siobhan and Clodagh Laffey, 25 years of age and 20 years of age respective­ly have been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Both sisters are receiving treatment in Germany where there is a greater chance of getting their lives back on track again. It won’t be an over nightsolut­ion the treatment can be somewhat prolonged before satisfacto­ry results can be achieved.

The community have set up a trust to raise funds to help Siobhan and Clodagh cover the high costs involved in treatment and accommodat­ion while in Germany. The name of the fund is the Laffey Lyme Trust. One can support the girls by making a donation. CONGRATS TO ALEX MAGUIRE

Sixteen-year-old Alex Maguire did himself and his club Laytown &Bettystown proud in the recent G.U.I all Ireland under 18’s Championsh­ip on the Castleroy golf club in Co. Limerick. It was a field of one hundred and forty-six entrants from various European counties, such as England, Spain, Netherland­s,

Turkey, Germany and Poland, including the very talented Irish internatio­nal players. John Brady and Mark Power. Alex finished tied 16th, no mean achievemen­t for a 16-year-old, well done Alex.

FR. WILLIE MEMORIAL WALK

The annual Fr. Willie Memorial Walk to Slane Will take place on Saturday 22nd July. Cost €10. Meeting Point: Oldbridge at 9am - Ending with a short Prayer Service on the Hill of Slane. Returning from the Hill of Slane to Oldbridge by Bus. If interested please put your name on the sheet provided at the Church Doors.

MEATH LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

B–5 BETTYSTOWN 5 MILE

Registrati­on is open for the B-5 sponsored once again by NSP. Taking place on Tuesday 18th July. The race starts at 8pm (walkers start at 7:40) There is a free t-shirt to the first 300 registered.
