Samaritans host annual 24/7 event on July 22 in area

-

DROGHEDA & North East Branch of Samaritans will hold its annual 24/7 event on Saturday, July 22.

Branch volunteers will travel to towns in counties Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan in a minibus throughout the day.

The group will depart from Drogheda early in the morning and will make stops in Navan, Kingscourt, Carrickmacross and Ardee before heading back to Drogheda.

Volunteers will spend time in each town speaking to members of the public and handing out Samaritans literature.

The event is being held to raise awareness of the service it provides in the community, namely to provide emotional support to those who contact them, whether by phone, email, text or face-to-face.

Samaritans offers a safe place for people to talk about anything that may be troubling them and its dedicated team is always on hand to offer help.

‘24/7’ is usually held on the 24th day of the seventh month of the year. However, as July 24 falls on a Monday this year, the local branch is moving the event two days forward in order to have maximum impact in the communities it serves.

The event provides an opportunity for the branch to reach out to the public, and to highlight its vital work in saving lives.

It follows on from the very successful awareness day held at Drogheda Train Station on July 7.

Drogheda & North East Branch of Samaritans would sincerely like to thank management at the station for supporting that event again this year.
