Calls for lights to be erected in Tullyallen’s Burton Hall

-

A call has been made for Louth County Council to install public lighting in the Burton Hall estate in Tullyallen.

The call for street lighting was made by Councillor David Saurin at the July meeting of Drogheda Municipal District.

He said the estate had many young families living in it and crossing the estate is a stream which has only rudimentary fencing around it.

He said people are afraid to let their children out.

Cllr Saurin said the facilities are there for the street lighting but there had not been enough left in the bond from the developer to finish the job. Supporting the motion Councillor Paul Bell asked whether the estate had been taken in charge yet. Councillor Tommy Byrne said he had written to the council about this issue six weeks ago.

Borough Engineer Pat Finn said the estate was taken in charge but at the time there was insufficient money in the bond to do the public lighting. He said if funding becomes available it will be done.
