BRINGBACK THELIGHTS!

- BY HUBERT MURPHY

THE ongoing delay in re-erected the piece of artwork on the MI - entitled ‘ The Speed of Light, the Colour of Sound’ by William Dennisuk has been condemned by Meath councillors.

‘It is an absolute disgrace,’ Cllr Tom Kelly told last week’s council meeting in Duleek.

He had raised the question in the past, asking for the artwork to be reinstated.

It was removed some years ago due to ongoing vandalism.

The meeting heard that Louth CC and Meath CC met with Northlink representatives earlier this year and discussed the matter.

The motorway operators indicated that they maintain the Bull of Cooley.

The Speed of Light artwork is presently being stored at the Boyne Bridge site.

Louth CC say they are investigating the art issue.

‘ This has just been put off again. It was never properly secured and there is no reason why it cannot be properly secured. ‘I propose an immediate response and action from us,’ Cllr Kelly added.

Cllr Paddy Meade said it was an issue Louth CC needed to resolve.
