Goals feast for the Drogs

-

AFTER their 4-4 draw at leaders Bohemians on Tuesday last, when Stephen Meaney was sent off, Drogheda United Under-19s ran out easy winners against Longford Town at United Park on Saturday.

Emmet Carolan came in for the suspended Meaney, with Karl Fitzsimons moving to striker, and the only other change was in goals where Jamie Hickey replaced Harry Hogan.

The Drogs showed no ill-effects from their tough match on Tuesday and were a goal in front after 15 minutes from a Sean Tunney header. It was 1-0 at half-time, but after manager Derek Boyle’s team talk they hit five goals in the second period thanks to Mark Doyle (2), Lee Partridge, James Carroll and sub Brian Cabraley.

DROGHEDA UNITED: Jamie Hickey, James Carroll, Craig Darcy, Sean Tunney, Sam Reilly, Kyle Molloy (Tom McCarthy), Lee Partridge (Sean Hughes), Karl Fitzsimons (Eoin Broughan), Emmet Carolan, Conor Grogan (Brian Cabraley), Mark Doyle (Lee McGuinness).
