THE problem with a main pipeline connecting the water supply to Staleen treatment plant is nothing new, according to Cllr Paddy Meade, the cathaoirleach of the Laytown/ Bettystown Area Council.

There was a similar incident last year at the location, close to Donore.

Repairs began on Friday at 5am after certain ‘ local issues’ were resolved.

Cllr Meade refused to comment on the issues surrounding the pipe and its subsequent repair.

‘I will simply say that I was delighted to see Louth CC and Irish Water on site at 5am on Friday and I look forward to working on any future issues that may arise in relation to this,’ he remarked.
